These Are a Few of My Favorite Things...

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things..."

We all know some of Fraulein Maria's favorite things in The Sound of Music. Now, I want to know some of your favorite things! I would love to know what you would recommend to first-time parents as your top 5 favorite must-haves either during pregnancy or for a new baby. I'm looking for your thoughts on both standard items as well as things that maybe I won't think of on my own, but we shouldn't be without. Feel free to email me or to leave your answers in the comments section of this post. To leave a comment, click on the word "Comments" at the end of this post, and the link will take you to the page where you can type in your recommendations. Thanks so much for your help!

Karen, I am so glad you have a blog! I've found that is a very easy way to keep in touch with friends and family! And CONGRATULATIONS! Demian and I are so excited for you and Brian!

The things we couldn't live without are as follows:
1. Boppy pillow-still use it and Amelia is 2!
2. Avent Steam Sterilizer Microwave Bags
3. Bumbo Chair-used it all the time...never had a high chair until after she was 1!
4. Soothies Pacifiers
5. Cuddle Me Carseat blanket-use instead of snowsuits/buntings, etc.
6. Aquapor ointment-works for dry skin, diaper rash, etc...
7. Pampers Swaddlers
8. Dreft laundry spray
9. Pampers sensitive wipes
10. Anti-scratch mittens

Hope this helps! Miss you guys!

Love, Nan

Gosh...There are so many!! I agree with the ones you already have listed ~ especially the Dr. Browns bottles, a cradle swing by FPrice, and a Boppy. Some others we have discovered are must-haves:
1. A really good breast pump ~ spend the money ~ you get what you pay for!
2. A Co-Sleeper by Arms Reach (check the website ~ a lifesaver!!)
3. Mams pacifiers ~ recommended for breastfeeding moms; get the silicone nipples, not latex.
4. Bumpy Names Orbit Labels for bottles, sippy cups, etc.
5. A really great travel system ~ preferably a stroller that collapses standing up and is lightweight.
6. A diaper pail, esp. with Sera around ~ we love the Diaper Champ (vs. Genie) because it doesnt require special bags. :)
CONGRATS to both of you!!!
(And for you ~ a body pillow for later in pregnancy, and some Lansiloh cream, just in case....)
