First Google Search

Here is a screen-shot of Larkin's first ever Google search! I was holding Larkin in my lap while I was tinkering on my computer early this morning, and she decided to have a go at it herself. Larkin grabbed at the mouse and actually moved it around and then did a bit of typing. As you can see, she got around on that keyboard (even got some capital letters in there!) and she seemed to enjoy herself! If you click on the image, you can see the details of her search...which resulted in zero results. She stumped Google!

Thanksgiving 2008 & Larkin's 1/2 Birthday

Despite all of us being a bit under the weather, we had a wonderful day celebrating Thanksgiving and Larkin's 1/2 Birthday together. Our Thanksgiving feast included turkey and gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoe casserole, corn casserole, peas, cranberry sauce, crescent rolls, etc. It was yummy, and we were especially excited that we timed it so that it was all ready at the same time!

The weather was great for this time of the year (mid-50's), so we went to the neighborhood elementary school playground so we could let Sera run around. Check out the adorable video of her chasing after a frisbee that she found!

We decided that it was time to start Larkin on real Stage 1 foods and so today we started her on sweet potatoes, which seemed appropriate given that it's Thanksgiving Day! I wouldn't say she loved it, but she did pretty well! Check out the video of her first bites below.

Grandpa Bud is here visiting and Larkin is completely smitten with him. He feeds her, cuddles with her and she trusts him completely. For a couple of days earlier this week, while Brian and I were at work, Grandpa Bud even took on the role of "Nanny Bud" and they did wonderfully together! Check out the video that we took this evening of the two of them laughing together - it's so great!

Brian's 35th Birthday

Brian turned 35 years old today and Larkin helped her daddy celebrate with his mocha mud pie cake. Brian is still is giddy about celebrating and blowing out his birthday candles as he was when he was a kid... that's just the way it should be! We had a ham dinner over at Grandma/pa Hittle's house and had a great time. Happy Birthday, honey!

Daddy & Me Comparison

Since I recently posted a Mommy & Larkin comparison picture, I thought it was only fair to post a Daddy & Larkin comparison picture too. I took this picture this morning, as I was on my way out the door to work. While 5-month old Larkin looks like me when I was 5 months old, I think she looks like Brian at 35 years old! Similar crew cuts, similar looks back over their shoulders when I called their names, similar cuteness!

Mommy & Me Comparison - 5 months

I found this picture of me taken when I was 5 months old and thought that it would be fun to take a similar shot of Larkin so we could compare them. We're both holding Toto, my favorite and most cherished stuffed animal from growing up. Can you tell who's who? Hint...my eyes are brown and Larkin's are blue! Aside from our different eye colors, I actually think we look remarkably similar (not to mention, chubby!). What do you think?

Hat & Hair

Larkin is a bundle of cute fun right now. She is rolling over a ton...her daycare provider even gave her the nickname "Rollie Pollie"! She's also interested in everything - toys, lights, grabbing at people's faces, grabbing her feet or my earrings or my nose, you name it.

Here are a few pictures of her from this week. I think she looks so cute in her winter hats and check out her hair in the other pictures! Her hair has just appeared - poof! - in the last week or two. Since Brian has begun shaving his head, Larkin's hair is now longer (and fuller) than her Daddy's! :) I think she's going to be a blondie with big blue eyes... just like both of her grandmas.
