Best Friends

Best friends and my two babies. Need I say more? I think I'll go join the cuddle now.

Goddard Tiger Room

Currently, Larkin is in the Tiger Room at the Goddard School (for ages ~18-24 months). She has 3 teachers, Ms. Kaylee, Ms. Poornima, and Ms. April. She's also with her best friend, Ella, and other close classmates Duncan, Carter, etc. Here are a few pictures (mostly from March 15th - April 15th) of what Larkin's days are like as a Tiger.

The Easter Bunny visited the school too. Check out the wind that day - the kids are nearly being blown over!

Here's Larkin during reading time. Talk about a kid that engages. Can she be any closer to that book and not be holding it herself?! All of the other kids are neatly sitting in the circle... but not our go-getter, Larky! (And I wouldn't have it any other way).

Meal time at school is always a favorite time for Larkin. In the first pic, she's eating so nicely with her friends (Larkin is third from the left in the red). In the second pic... well, that's Larkin when you give her something delicious like a cupcake. How she got it all over her face but miraculously missed her clothes, I still do not understand!

Here's Larkin with her best friend, Ella (who's 2 months older). In the second picture, it looks like Ella's strangling Larkin, doesn't it? No really, they're best friends. :)

This last set of pictures is Larkin at play. From balance beams, to tents, to puzzles, to gym equipment, to cars, you name it. She is an active child (which at least makes her a good eater and a good sleeper, and helps us stay in shape too)!

Zoo - Africa Exhibits

We decided to take full advantage of this unseasonably warm spring day and went for a great family day at the Kansas City Zoo. Grandma joined us which was wonderful. Last time we went, we visited the Australia Exhibits, so this time we decided to take the tram to see the African Exhibits. My favorites were the cheetahs and the silver-backed gorilla. Larkin's favorites were the tram ride, the gorilla and the adorable, tiny Meerkats. She was able to close to the Meerkats which she loved. One nice thing about the KC Zoo is that they try to allow the animals to be in as natural habitats as possible. Sometimes the animals are close by the viewing areas and sometimes not. Today they were actually fairly near, so we got a good view of the animals. It was a great day and we already look forward to going back.

Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny came for a visit! Larkin was so surprised (and happily so) that the Easter Bunny was there to help her hunt for Easter eggs. She even gave him a sweet kiss! While Larkin doesn't really get what Easter is all about, but she has gotten really good at finding eggs and eating the goldfish that we hid inside! She gets that part!

After happily giving Papa his head butt and Grandma her eskimo kiss, Larkin enjoyed the new doodle board that Grandma had. She especially loved the magnet shapes on it. It's always fun for Larkin to play with new toys and it's even better when she gets to do it with her Grandma!

Check out these other Easter bunnies! Papa and Sera look so cute together, don't they?! Sera was such a good sport, especially given that she had had her very painful dew claw surgery less than 48 hours before. Luckily for her, her pink bandages matched her pink ears perfectly!

Happy Easter from all of us! Or, as Larkin would say "Happy E-ber"!

Nuns for Good Friday

Here are two cute sisters having fun with their napkins when we went out to dinner! These nuns (Sister Grandma Margaret and Sister Larkin) wish you a very happy Good Friday! It was a blessed good day for us... Sera had to have surgery today to remove her dew claws (which were improperly removed as a puppy and were getting infected). She's in pain, but everything went great and she's home with us recovering! Good Friday, yes indeed!
